TBF aka the Band Famous is an alternative rock group with soul EDM infusions.
Band Bio
The Band Famous came to life in 2013 when they filmed their own birth featuring spontaneous improvised music at the first meeting of founding members Zander and Norell with Terrance Clifford. Their debut album Last Words is an album of entirely improvised material.
Music Reporter Jay Gabler of Minnesota Public Radio and 89.3 FM The Current, says:
“The more I read, the more surprised I was… They came together a couple of years ago in MN, they were all here in MN, and they all play music, they all make art, they also are all software developers… and actually some of the music from that initial jam session went on their debut EP ‘Last Words’ which was released - wait for it - not on vinyl or via iTunes or any of the conventional ways of releasing music, but via an app - because they’re all software developers, right? They made an interactive app by which they released their album…..It’s dreamy, it’s spacey…. I think people… will find a lot to enjoy, a lot of familiar, and ambient sounds… the whole thing is improvised by the way, all of their music to date has been entirely improvised…”
Awakening is their most focused and steadfast material yet!
TBF’s first official commercial release is out now! From their upcoming 2nd album Awakening,
“Promises” is available on iTunes.
“… you give a more intimate experience to the fans”
“Their art is now gaining traction nationwide…This spring, TBF performed on the Tom Green Show and other L.A.-based podcasts, following the fall Android release of their album, Last Words. Their second album, Awakening, is being released soon.”
“Your band is exciting, you have an exciting - would you call it an industrial metal band? What is it more of a pop, pop industrial alternative band?”
“Their multi-media performances include body paint and synth-driven grooves, and they have even developed their own app to broadcast these shows.”
“I just had to have them on the show immediately because they were one of those teams that you may come across, or individuals you come across at any entertainment function that was genuine… everything about them was about their business… I saw a humanitarian part of them as well… these are genuine individuals… Wowww - that there is really interesting… That’s an upgrade! …That there is really something that’s ingenious……. you actually bring the folks great tunes, you actually have fantastic artistic ability when it comes to body painting, and there’s a host of other things that you do…you guys were actually created through live-streaming, which is one of the biggest things and benefits that we have today in the entertainment industry…”
“You’re a group of collaborators, I mean musicians, developers, and people who are very creative, body painters, writers - I mean you have a little bit of everything and when you put everyone together, its like ‘we create the band famous’…”
“And the technology nowadays…You just have it in your pocket because everybody - everyone right now has a smartphone, so if you say you don’t have a smartphone, please c’mon. You know how to connect even with WiFi in your house… This is an amazing and huge idea, I love it. Let’s talk a little bit about you’re music - we’re listening right now, it’s very nice, relaxed.”
“…the band famous, who somehow managed to form live on the internet..that’s right…it’s like they filmed their own birth…they made an interactive app by which they released their album… The more I read, the more surprised I was… They came together a couple of years ago in MN, they were all here in MN, and they all play music, they all make art, they also are all software developers… and actually some of the music from that initial jam session went on their debut EP ‘Last Words’ which was released - wait for it - not on vinyl or via iTunes or any of the conventional ways of releasing music, but via an app - because they’re all software developers, right? They made an interactive app by which they released their album…..[The music?] It’s dreamy, it’s spacey…. I think people… will find a lot to enjoy, a lot of familiar, and ambient sounds… the whole thing is improvised by the way, all of their music to date has been entirely improvised…”
“'Climax,’ a track on the Band Famous’s debut EP Last Words, was taken from that initial improv session. The band finished their initial release over a subsequent series of improv sessions—with Norell singing, Terry largely handling production duties, and all three members playing multiple instruments—and released the dreamy, synth-laden EP as a ‘smart album’ in the form of an app. The app, which also features a game and videos, can now be downloaded for free on your iPhone or iPad (search “Band Famous” in the app store)”
“He is also a contributing member in The Band Famous, adding violin to synthesizers to their EDM sound, and unveiled a new body art installment for their debut performance, body painting at the Love Monster Famous App Release Party on Friday the 13th, this June.”
“Lavender Magazine printed our debut live performance and App Release (Album Release) Party on Page 19 of their May 29-June 11 2014 issue.”
What makes the Band Famous (TBF) different from other bands?
- They are arguably the first band in the world who can say one of their band members is a recognized body painter.
- They are the first band in the world to release an album of completely improvised material.
- They are the first band in the world to have their birth live streamed on the internet.
- They are the first band in the world to self-release their debut album in the form of a “smart album”, their own virtual venue and record store.
TBF has proudly been endorsed by: Greg Deocampo, Atmosphere, Jack Ramos, Jay Gabler, Kim Dotcom, Emre Erturk, and Tom Green.

Lady Gaga and Björk are among entertainers that have an app, but they hired others to build it. Not TBF! They not only programmed and released the smart album, but they are also “fine-tuning” the new technology to cater to their fan base. In other words, the “downloadees” are going to determine the future of TBF’s apps.
They write all their own music, lyrics and do all of their own compositions and mastering - TBF is entertainment’s three-person army. The band formed over a spontaneous improv and livestreamed recording session in Saint Paul, MN, on July 26th, 2013.

From self-recording their debut album of complete improvisation, to programming their smart album and releasing it on the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play for free, TBF has proven to be a very capable group of pushing artistic and musical content, but is more focused on the art and the music than on distribution.

Their members include renowned artist and body painter, Zander, app expert Terry aka Terrance Clifford, who - also the creator of “TV Machines” - has over six apps on both iTunes and Google Play App Stores, and soulful singer and lyricist Norell, who is working on her first autobiography i.e. all three members are multifaceted artists and entrepreneurs.

December 2014:
Alas, our Kickstarter crowd funding project has drawn to an end. While we did not meet our funding goal in time, we'd like to thank all of our backers and supporters for trying to help us get there! Your love and support means the world to us.
On the bright side, we still succeeded in getting our music and our story out there, special thanks to Minnesota Public Radio, The Current, Local Current, Atmosphere, WeekONLatinoamerica, JCT TV, and every single one of you who shared the word in any way, shape or form.
We love and appreciate you all!
There are still so many exciting things to come! The smart album just may be a Famous exclusive. To all the Minneapolis/St. Paul family, the in-app concerts will still be coming to you, in addition we will keep working on porting our iPhone app to Android and releasing other exciting updates that you - the fans - can partake in.
That's right, our fans will MOLD the future of our app(s)...
It will take longer and will be more complicated due to current circumstances, but we will keep working with the same passion and diligence. We'll also finish our 2nd album and film a music video when time and funding does come into play.
If you are ever in need of affordable web and app solutions, please refer to phonixintl.com. By hiring us you will help support our music, art, and apps, too!
In other news, we are working on putting together a monthly music show at a fashion studio in Brooklyn, and NY/NJ friends, you can see Zander body painting live on Dec. 13th at Club Envy in NJ.
To our Minneapolis/St. Paul Famous Family, please check out our very talented bandmate Terry aka Jambots, multimedia artist and designer, for his art show in downtown Minneapolis. His art installation "TV Machines" is on display until March 2015 with MadeHereMN.org.
We appreciate your friendship, your encouragement, your teachings, and of course - the only reason we started it - you have to reach for your dreams. We'd like to extend our warmest holiday wishes to all of you!
We'll keep you updated with what life puts on our path.
Love,
The Band Famous
Oct/Nov 2014:
Thank you to everyone who is able to donate and/or help spread the word. Sharing is caring!
We are The Band Famous; we are a group of artists, musicians, and developers. Every one of our members is doubly talented in music and development. Not only do we make the music, but also we bring it to you.
We gave you The Band Famous for iOS (iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touch) for FREE, which includes our debut EP, “Last Words”, videos, games, and so much more!
Now we want to bring you The Band Famous for Android, and in addition to giving you our EP “Last Words”, we are also working on our second album “Awakening”.
With this Kickstarter, we will expand our platform from iOS to Android as well. One of our goals is to take our best single for our newest album “Awakening” and give you a high quality music video.
We also will need help with marketing and distribution on all of the above once we get there! We’ve developed what we feel is a very diverse reward system that is sure to have something for everyone! We’ve even set up some of the rewards to give you more than one option for whatever you feel comfortable donating to our cause.
